Conversations about Adoption!

Well I have been substitute teaching here lately.I was teaching at preschool today, when I met a nice woman who was the assistant teacher. We hit it off good.It turns out we had some things in common with people we knew and all.She started to ask me questions about the adoption. Like a ton of questions. Some I thought were private to me,but I answered them the best way I could. I don't think she was trying to be nosey, but she just wanted to know in a interesting way. This I have to say was the first time that I was approached with such questions, but I liked it!It prepares you for more comments later and you educate someone else on adoption.

Now to the dentist part.My oldest son Bailey went to the dentist today with Shane (my husband).Shane was telling me how the hygentist was asking Bailey if he had any brothers or sisters.Bailey said,"I have a brother Adyn, and a sister on the way."And she said,"When is she coming?"Bailey said,"I don't know you will have to ask my dad."
Shane said then they got into the adoption dicussion and he told her all about it.So needless to say adoption awareness was spread around a couple times today. I am so happy about that and I hope something great comes out of it with other families.Since November is Adoption Awareness month,I thought this would be neat to share. Hope we all move in a step soon....By the way I like the ETSY website,I am gonna try and order a cute elephant for Maiya's room!! Thanks to the LABONTE family for sharing this website,I am HOOKED!!!!!Gidget

We had a few funny incidents when my sons said we were going to have a baby sister. People looked pointedly at my stomach, and wondered how we knew it was going to be a girl, since I didn't look pregnant. Your kids will make great "ice breakers" over the next months!

This is great that you are being given opportunities to discuss adoption and have positive reactions. Adoption awareness starts with simple conversations. Good job!

I love that people are so genuinely interested that they sometimes don't think about what they are asking. I always tell people it is my favorite topic of conversation :)
