Thankful

Well I wanted to let u all know about my dad. Last night all I did was toss and turn.I arrived at the hospital this morning about 5:45 a.m. As soon as I walked into my dad's room he was all smiles to see me as he always is,and I was all smiles:). I have never seen my dad on the nervous, slight scared side. Nobody of course likes surgery. This is the first operation he has ever had besides a tonsillectomy.

Finally it was time for him to go down and I didn't cry gave him a hug and we exchanged some words and I told him that God was with him. Those were my last words to my daddy. I was the big parent now you see. My dad has always been there to love and care for me,so now it was my turn to comfort him.
We waited and waited until about 12:00 p.m. and the doc came in and told us that all went perfect. They said that he was the first to go to ICU in 5 years without the ventilator in his mouth. So Praise the Lord.:)They will be watching him closely all evening and tomorrow morning while he is in ICU. I seen him shortly after and I couldn't take much the first visit but then I went back and Shane got to see him too,and this time I was better. Yah, I know I am suppose to be tough because I am the nurse, well I failed slightly because when you see someone u love in PAIN you want to help them and for a moment I knew what is was like not to be able to do anything but pray. I was out of control and God was in the driver seat. That is where I believe God wants us to put him in our lives so he can lead, guide and comfort us. Thank you Lord for bringing my dad thru a successful surgery, your hand was upon him and it will continue to be. I am so thankful this evening. Thank you to all of you who prayed for my dad, those prayers from your heart helped him to do great, they were answered today. Please continue to pray that he has a great recovery. Have a great evening. Now I gotta figure out what's for dinner?
By the way,it is too quiet, sorry but no Maiya knews yet! Although I am working on getting those education classes done!! Gidg

Feelin India today!!

Well today I headed out to do some shopping by myself and just enjoying quiet time while Shane and the boys worked on the boat and etc. First I went to grab a HUGE bag of dogfood then off to a store or two.
Now I will tell you why I am feelin India today. I went to a India place to eat and it was great. I went up to pay and I had to wait about 5 min, because things were busy. Before I knew it I was having a conversation with a beautiful little indian girl about my name!! I would say she was about 3 and her name was Miesha. She said,"What is your name?" I said "Gidget",and she said "No it is Kala"!! Then I said "I need to pay for my food, and then she said just give me your card!" So I thought I would play along and give her my card,so I did!! She pretended to slide it, THANK GOODNESS! Then she starts holloring my name! Finally her mom comes and checks me out!! She just knew it all I tell yah! Kids are something else sometimes.
Then off to Sam's and another conversation with a nice Indian lady about shampoo and hair!! Then at the check out, a american woman with her adopted girl from India. She was beautiful. Everywhere I looked I seen India and our adoption!! So then off back to my state which is about a hour away, and another indian lady behind me in the check out lane at another store. Now it just felt wierd! Maybe I just noticed everything since I was by myself. I wonder if this might just mean something? LOL. Today is Good Friday and I have to say it has been a good but rainy Friday!! I think my flip flops have been about watered out!! I am looking forward to a beautiful Easter weekend!! Well that's about all folks for Feelin India, until further news...Gidget

Promise of Comfort....

Yesterday I was feeling a little down for some reasons. I realize now that those reasons were not worth my time of feeling down. It seemed as if all these negative things in my mind were just beating and beating upon me. Now that of course was not from God.

We as children of God have to be on guard everyday and be careful to not let something in that is negative. It can be a simple word, and believe me words are not little they are big. They can destroy and bring death or they can live and bring forth light. Light is greater then darkness. If you have a dark house from a power outage, then one little candle will light it up. We always have to make sure that we have our lights lit daily.

I am bouncing back from this today. I opened my bible to this today and I have had the blessing of God's word talk to me about comfort. If you read in John 14:15-16,it states If ye love me,keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. The word talks about comfort from Mark 14:15-31. Verse 27 says that-Peace I leave with you,my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, either let it be afraid. God has not only given us light to shine but he has given us a promise of comfort if we will first love him and keep his commandments.

There are times in our lives where I believe we all can relate to lettings things in,and words, and life in general bring us down. But if we could just bounce back and remember that the instructions for us to have the comforter is to love and do God's will. We will then be full of that comforter which is the Holy Spirit and nothing can put our light out. Don't get me wrong,I am not saying that Life will be perfect, but that comforter will grab a a hold of you and give you strength to stand during your difficult time.

Let me give you a example of difficult times as a true testimony of what the Lord has done for me. Well just let me go a few years further back. In May of 2004,my young full of life mother died unexpectedly of heart disease the day after my sister's baby shower. Then in Aug. of 2007 my young 25 yr old beautiful sister and her 10 month old son got ran over in their own yard by a paving truck. She left behind her husband and 4 year old daughter. I have had to watch my neice go thru this hard time with her daddy. Then just a few months, brother n law lost his mom. Then a couple months later my husband lost his brother who was the same age as my sister in a car accident. Then my mema died on my dad's side, then my uncle. It just kept happening one after the other. I remember telling God that he was gonna have to carry me thru my sister and nephew leaving, this seem to hit me the hardest. During her funeral he did just that and carried me. All I could do was think of how he saved my sister and how grateful I was. Don't get me wrong I was still saddened very deeply but that comfort in me rises above the pain that I not only dealt with then, but everyday of my life.

I don't know what I would have done if I did not have God's comfort living in me and when she died the Lord gave me the verse of Isaiah 57:1-2. I have hope of seeing her one day because of God's great promises. The world didn't give me a promise. Don't miss out on the promises of God they are the most valuable thing in the world. I hope you all enjoy the truest promise of this Easter with your families. Gidget

Child Like Faith in the Storms....

Well I thought that I would begin the spring season with a post from this past week that definate has to do with spring weather. Last weekend our boys stayed with my mother n law while Shane and I went for some quailty time together. We took the kids over about one or so then off we went. First we went to exchange a book for a rug at Babies R Us for Maiya. Then we decided to hit the Olive Garden, and by the way,not a place to go when you are on a healthier eating plan. What was we thinking!! LOL. Then we decided to walk it off in the mall. We went to Macy's looking around, then the CALL about the STORMS!! Shane's mom called and told us about the tornado warnings so I was like let's go,then I thought no, the best thing I can do is to pray and stay right where we are. Then another call from Jennifer telling us that the storms were headed our way. Then the call across the store for all customers to meet downstairs in the center in the store. So we wait about 30 minutes and thank goodness it blew over. Then we continued on our date.
So yesterday I was talking to Adyn about storms since we had storm warnings yesterday also. I asked Adyn if he was scared at mammys when they had to get in the bedroom with pillows and Adyn said "No",Mammie said that "God will help us." Bailey said he wasn't scared either. What a sweet and beautiful example of child like faith. He just heard it, believed it and spoke it. Adyn has been speaking this all week. The bible does say that we have to have the child like faith to enter into his heavenly kingdom. Mark 10:15.
Later on I had told my mother n law about what Adyn had said and she said that kids know and listen more then we think. I am thankful that my children felt safe in the midst of the storms. Life sometimes throws us storms and it is such a blessing to feel that peace in the storm. Blessings,Gidget
